Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are remotely piloted or self-piloted aircraft that can carry cameras, sensors, communications equipment or other payloads.
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), also called a drone, is a term used by the US military, the Israeli Defence Forces and others to describe the latest generations of pilotless aircraft.

STYX - mini UAV
STYX is a low cost airframe projected for possibility of aerial, real-time video transmision. It may be used for recognizing , monitoring area security and so on. The plane is equipped with the automatic flight control system FCS-1. However other autonomous flight systems may be used. CCTV camera mounted in front of plane fuselage is positioned around 2 axes. Camera position may be gyro stabilized (in vertical surface). Camera and 2.4 GHz video transmitter supply is controlled by electronic switch. Optionaly compact still camera may be mounted in payload volume as well as other equipment (for example pneumatic bag for parachute recovery). Special electronic module was projected for still camera control (switch on/off , zoom , trigger). Data link (up and down) is carried out by Aerocomm radiomodems of 15 km range and 868 (900) MHz band. Carbon composite (fuselage) and foam +balsa (wings) makes the STYX’s structure lightweight and shock-resistant. 300 W, high efficiency brushless electric motor is used for the STYX propulsion. Special electronic module enables RPM stabilisation (when battery pack voltage decreases).
