The VH-4 camera head was constructed to be used in small UAVs or RC controled models. It is a low cost alternative for cameras with zoom objectives. The head consists of four mini-cameras with objectives of different focal length. The following focal lengths can be used in the head: 2.5 , 2.8 , 3.6 , 4.3 , 6 , 8 , 12 , 16 and 25 mm.

The head control module passes PAL signal to the output from one selected camera. Other cameras are not powered. Adjust range: Pan 0 - ± 160° , tilt 10 - 90° down . The head may be adapted to work in a horizontal position. If this version is controlled by FCS-1 autopilot the changes of camera position caused by a rolling motion can be electronically compensated. The cameras are driven by 2 servos . Therefore, the signals used for the head control are the same as in standard RC systems for modelers. 3 channels are needed for head control. 2 of them (proportional) are used for 2-axis rotation control and the third (switch controlled) is used for camera selecting. The VH-4 head needs 2 supply voltages : 5 V for servos (RC receiver battery may be used) and 12 V for cameras and control unit. To avoid a disturbing influence of the 12 V powered unit on the RC receiver the galvanic separation between both voltages has been applied. The main material used for head construction is the carbon fiber. Head structure is therfore more resistant and lightweight.
